Dear Parishioner,

This Sunday’s gospel tells us about real love and how it dovetails with real forgiveness. It can often be quite easy to love a friend, even an acquaintance.  It can be a lot more difficult to love a family member, or someone that may have hurt us or made us feel insignificant. Real love is about forgiveness. Real love is about embracing pain, embracing embarrassment caused by another, working hard to show unconditional love.   God loves us in an unconditional way; this means that unlike so many deals we hear about, there are no terms and conditions to apply! We are loved in all our brokenness and narrow mindedness, our pride and our stubbornness. Because of this unconditional love, God calls us to be the same with others, not just to people we occasionally meet but with the people in our family, the ones who irritate us and perhaps annoy us on a more regular basis! Treat others as you are treated by God: a big ask, but asked of each one just the same.

Church Cleaning Group: The Church cleaning group requires new members Male and Female. If you can spare an hour of your time please come to the church at 10am on Tue 23^rd of Oct. Many hands make light work. Sincere thank you to all those who are already part of the cleaning group and who do tremendous work to help keep our church clean and tidy

Dun Bleisce Tidy Towns: annual used clothes collection this Sunday 17^th and next Sunday 24^th of September.  Clothes can be left at the Pastoral Centre between 9am and 12 noon.

Doon Community Council: Will host an information meeting on setting up a Youth Club in the parish on Tuesday 3^rd Oct @ 8pm in the Community Centre. Representatives from Limerick Youth Service will be present. Any adult volunteers interested as well as parents of children from 5^th class upwards are invited to attend.  Scrap metal collection is on Saturday 7^th October. Drop off items at the Community Centre on that morning. Doon Community Alert: Annual Church Gate Collection will be held this weekend 16/17^th Sept. Any outstanding subscriptions of €10 for Text Alert can be paid at the Post Office or to any member. A meeting will be held next Tuesday 12^th @ 8.30pm in the Community Centre. All are welcome.

Showband Night: Saturday 7^th October in Hayes Function Room Cappamore in aid of Milford Hospice. Music by the Famous Miami Showband. Tickets €10.00

Mary Immaculate College Alumni Reunion 2017: Did you graduate from MIC in 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007, 2012? Ballyhoura Development: The Ballyhoura North East District Forum will take place on Tuesday September 26^th @ 7.30pm in the Millennium Centre Caherconlish.

Doon GAA: Lotto: Mon. 4^th September. no’s drawn 1-12-20-24, no winner.  Next week’s draw will be held in Buckley’s Bar with a jackpot of €4,000. Commemoration: Doon GAA will hold a commemoration for Dan O’Hara on the 60^th Anniversary of his death in St Fintan’s Cemetery on this Sunday 17^th September @ 12 noon.  All are welcome.  Dan presented Doon with their first set of red and white jerseys in GAA Golden Jubilee Year 1934.
